I'm in a Magazine! - Silence & Starsong #2

Last month, I submitted a story to indie fiction magazine Silence & Starstong, and was honored to have it included in their upcoming second issue.

Writing for someone else's publication was a new experience for me...and kind of nerve-wracking, to be honest! Thankfully, the folks at Silence & Starsong had at least one issue under their belts and were ready to back me up. They set me up with an editor (a very professional one, I might add) who took it upon himself to proofread my submission and offer constructive criticism where he saw fit.

I'll admit, seeing some of his suggested edits took me aback quite a bit. However, I quickly realized that, if I wanted to get the best possible version of the story for the mag, I was going to have to suck it up and listen to him. Soon enough, I began to figure out what worked and what didn't, as well as what my strengths and weaknesses as a writer were, as seen by a reader with actual experience in the publishing scene.

Huh...that fourth name down looks familiar...

After a few weeks of editing, the story was finally ready to go, and now it graces the pages of Silence & Starsong: Volume 1 Issue 2. It will be available on the Amazon marketplace on November 27th!

It's an old-fashioned anthology magazine with a variety of fiction genres ranging from fantasy, to science fiction, to thriller, and more. My story - "Emerald Tears" - focuses on the character Siloh from my novella The Scarlet Down, but serves as its own, self-contained "side quest" in the Mayhem and Magic series. I can't wait for folks to see it!
